We've Moved!

Hey everyone!

As I'm sure most of you know by now, Kristin and I have experienced a LOT of change over the last few months...which explains the lack of posts here! I've changed jobs, we've moved to Waco, we're expecting, and my brother got married! Whew! That's a lot of change!

To go with the change, I've moved our updates to another site. This site is written by me and focuses on health, fitness, and fatherhood. It will continue to update our friends on the goings on of our lives, but it will also share my journey into being the best man, the man God made me to be, that I can be! I hope you'll follow me and my new site!

Thanks everyone and hope to see you soon!

Remember, run for your life!

A Spring Full of Family!

It has been a very busy, crazy, and fun past couple of weekends for Kristin and I!

First, we took the dogs down to the lake and let them roam around.

Chloe had a great time running around and Hannah even found a ball to play with...

I love going down to the lake and letting the dogs run free. They're always so exhausted after we go, but it was a beautiful day and a lot of fun!

After our time running around with the dogs, we paid a visit to Lance Armstrong's bike shop, Mellow Johnny's. Lance has some awesome memorabilia in his store, including his teammate George Hincapie's time trial bike, and signed jerseys from all of Lance's Tour De France wins!

Continuing our theme of Lance Armstrong, I convinced Kristin to go with me to Lance's house so I could stal...take pictures of it.

Lance wouldn't let me in.

After all this craziness, Kristin went to Waco to meet with all the women in our family for a nice little "Ladies Lunch." Connie, Carole, and Amelia all drove down from Dallas to meet my mom, Kristin, and my grandmother at my grandmother's house for lunch. Amelia, of course, was the star of the show.

After the lunch, Amelia had a bluebonnet photo shoot.

Finally, after all this action, Easter arrived!

Whew! What a Spring! Who knows what the rest of the season holds for us? I know one thing: I can't wait to find out!

Hail of a Storm

Last week we had a crazy hail storm in Austin and these are just a couple of pictures from the storm. Luckily both of our cars were in garages! There were so many cars with broken windshields in our parking lot and all along the highway. What a blessing that we both had to work late!

You

Hey everyone!

We have received some really positive and encouraging feedback from some folks about the devotionals I'm writing and that they are reading them when I post them on our blog. I thought I'd throw up the last one I wrote...which is about you!

If you'd like to join the mailing list, or know someone who might be interested, send me an email at sgetterman@gmail.com and I'll add you to the list! I hope to hear from you guys! Have a great weekend and God bless.

You

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Genesis 1:27

You were not created without thought, without purpose, or without a plan. Each and every one of us is a unique and awesome representation of our glorified God. You were shaped in the womb with a purpose; your Creator molded you to meet His exacting specifications. Each and every ingredient He poured into the recipe that makes up your total being was thought through, purposefully chosen and deliberately gifted to you and you alone. The Lord took from His very own image when He conceived of your being.

You were created in the image of God! You are an awesome blessing to this world! You are a walking, breathing divine miracle! You are a living representation of our Lord on high! You, yes you, are good!

“For everything God created is good…”

1 Timothy 4:4

Each of us is unique and purpose built. Some are built to excel in sports, some in school; some are built to excel in the corporate world, while others are meant to be blessings to their family at home. While there are may be many like you, there is only one you and you are good.

Don’t mistake the passions and paths of others for your own. Just because one person becomes a doctor or another person becomes a VP doesn’t mean that’s what God created you for. Each one of us is created in the image of God. Each one of us is good.

What’s your passion? What fire did God light inside of you when he created you in the womb? Each and every one of us was created in the image of God. Each and every one of us is a divine and miraculous blessing. We are each imparted with beautiful, specific, God given gifts meant only for us and the path that God has laid out for us.

Do you know what an awesome blessing you are to those around you? You encounter people every day that thank God for you being you. Each and every single one of you is a blessing to those in your life. You are a divine, miraculous, unique, and God given blessing. The only trick to making sure you’re taking full advantage of the awesomeness of God is this: Just be you. Don’t try to be anyone else. Don’t try to live someone else’s life. Realize that God has blessed you for a specific purpose, with specific traits taken directly from His image.

Are you struggling with holding on to what makes you, you? Are you different from your friends, coworkers, and even family? Take a moment and realize that God created you in His image and that you are good. Be who He wants you to be! Pray, seek His will for your life! Embrace your uniqueness and realize that those around you are blessed when you are who God created you to be.

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain,

Smith H. Getterman

Baylor Bears Fight!

Last night Baylor beat Auburn in the NIT tournament to advance to New York City and the NIT finals! Now mind you, this is the same team who has gone 59 years without a postseason win AND finished 9th in Conference play AND THEN went on to finish 2nd in the Big 12 Tournament. It has definitely been a roller coaster season, but the Baylor family couldn't be happier!
And to top that off, the BU girls are doing so well in the NCAA tournament, even without Mulkey on the bench, and will play Louisville on Saturday!
I'm so stinkin proud of my little Bears!

a few of my favorite things..

I loooove Spring! Not only because my birthday happens to be in May but because flowers are one of my favorite things about Springtime in Texas! There are lilac bushes galore and they smell so good all around Austin! Our dogs must agree too because they stick their little noses in the air and sniff like crazy when we walk by a bush on our morning walks. And of course the bluebonnets are starting to show their little faces around...obviously all the sweet smells are going to my head. Happy Spring!

March Madness!

Because everything in our little family is a contest, Smith and I have each made our annual brackets out for the NCAA Men's Tournament. We have been doing this since we first started dating and Smith entered my brackets in the KOT NCAA pool. Of course I thought this was really cool and a sure sign of his approval of me. I've come a long way since those days of picking by uniforms and mascots, so hopefully this year I could finally pull out one for the win column. Wish me luck!
